Josep Roca

While he prefers to call himself a "waiter of wines," he is recognized by critics and the public alike as a true master of pairing and the art of front-of-house service.

As one-third of the legendary Roca brothers' gastronomic trio, Josep developed a special connection with wine as a child in his parents' tavern cellar. That dark space, filled with subtle nuances, seduced him and sparked a lifelong passion. Today, he is one of the world's most acclaimed sommeliers, ensuring that at El Celler de Can Roca, wine is an integral part of the very conceptualization of each dish.

Like his brothers, he received his formal training at the Girona School of Hospitality. His illustrious career has been honored with the National Gastronomy Award for Best Maître d' (2004), the National Gastronomy Award for Best Sommelier (2010), the International Academy of Gastronomy Award for Best Sommelier (2005 and 2011), and the Gueridón de Oro Award for Best Maître d' (2013).
